Franciscus. Brother in Art 2026
From April 24th to October 4th, 2026, the Rocca Maggiore of Assisi will host 'Franciscus. Brother in Art', a major exhibition by Michelangelo Pistoletto exploring the relationship between art, spirituality, and social responsibility. The exhibition inaugurates the Assisi Estate 2026 program for the VIII Franciscan Centenary.
Cambio Festival 2026
The Cambio Festival 2026 runs from June 6, 2026 to February 6, 2027 between Assisi and Perugia, featuring concerts in castles and churches and the Cambio Parole section. The summer highlight is the three‑day event in July at the Castello di Palazzo di Assisi, with Paolo Ricca Group, Antonio Forcione Quartet and Renaud Garcia‑Fons.
Suoni Controvento 2026
For the ten-year anniversary of the festival, Suoni Controvento 2026 brings to the Rocca Maggiore in Assisi I Cani, Mannarino, Coez and Angelina Mango, with an exceptional finale on September 13: Giovanni Allevi with a symphonic orchestra in the Basilica Superiore di San Francesco. The traveling program also continues in other Umbrian municipalities, such as the C.S.I. stop at Villa Fidelia in Spello.
Every Corner Every Stone 2026
The 2026 edition of Ogni Angolo Ogni Pietra takes place between August and September in the hidden places of Assisi. The performance by the Piccolo Teatro degli Instabili is dedicated to three twentieth‑century figures linked to Saint Francis — Congdon, Weil and Fo — and is part of the Assisi Estate 2026 programme for the VIII Centenario francescano. Art Rock Maskè 2026
Art Rock Maskè 2026 takes place in Assisi from September 3 to 5, within Assisi Estate 2026: a theater and commedia dell'arte festival, curated by Teatro Studio Assisi, which puts in dialogue the masks of the Italian tradition with the figure of San Francesco, the "Giullare di Dio".
Satriano Ride 2026
Special edition for the eight hundredth anniversary of the death of Saint Francis (1226-2026): The Cavalcata di Satriano returns on September 6, 2026, with an expanded program, promoted by the Municipalities of Assisi, Spello, Nocera Umbra and Valtopina.
Cortile di Francesco 2026
The 11th edition of Cortile di Francesco takes place in Assisi over the two weekends of September 10‑13 and 17‑20, 2026, under the title "CreAzione". An international forum on fraternity, culture and society, part of the "San Francesco Vive" program for the eighth centenary.
Birka chi legge - Story Festival 2026
Birba chi legge - Festa delle Storie returns to Assisi from September 17 to 20, 2026: a long weekend of storytelling for children and young people, featuring stories, itinerant shows, creative and musical workshops, literary walks, and meetings with authors and illustrators in the historic center.

The Festa delle Salvie e del Giardino is also expected in autumn 2026 at the Lavandeto in Assisi, featuring over 50 varieties of ornamental and aromatic sages, guided tours, workshops and distillation demonstrations. The exact dates, usually on weekends between late September and mid‑October, will be confirmed by the organizers.
Celebrations for the Feast of Saint Francis, Patron Saint of Italy 2026
In the year marking the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis, on 4 October 2026, the occasion once again becomes a national civil holiday. The celebrations on 3-4 October in Assisi take on extraordinary solemnity, with liturgies in the Basilicas and the presence of state and Church authorities.
San Francesco Marathon 2026
The San Francesco Marathon 2026 takes place on Sunday, November 22, starting at 9:15 near the Basilica of San Francesco. The "SFM 26" edition is special as it is included in the Franciscan Centenary. The program features a marathon (42 km from Santa Maria to Spello and back), a half marathon, a 10 km competitive and non-competitive race, the "Vieni con me" walk, and the "Wolfy Dog Run".
DeMusicAssisi Winter Edition 2026
The DeMusicAssisi Winter Edition is expected again for the end-of-year holidays in 2026, with the usual program of Christmas medieval music, zampognari (shepherd musicians), laude (religious songs), and free concerts in Assisi's historic center. Precise dates will be communicated by the Accademia Resonars in the autumn.

The 2026 edition of Christmas in Assisi is expected to run from the Immaculate Conception to the Epiphany, featuring markets, videomapping, monumental nativity scenes, and a major exhibition of nativity scenes from around the world, between the historic center and Santa Maria degli Angeli. The detailed program will be published in the autumn on the city's official tourism website.
Petrignano d'Assisi Living Nativity 2026
The 45th edition of the Presepe Vivente of Petrignano d'Assisi will return in the 2026-2027 Christmas period, with the usual evening performances in the medieval castle between Christmas Day and Epiphany. The final dates and times are announced by the Committee on the official website close to the holidays.

The Living Nativity Scene of Armenzano will return during the 2026-2027 Christmas season in the medieval village on Monte Subasio. As per tradition, the performances will be concentrated between the day of Saint Stephen and the Epiphany, with afternoon-evening hours. Definitive dates and times will be announced by the Pro Loco of Armenzano in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
