Franciscus. Brother in Art 2026
From April 24th to October 4th, 2026, the Rocca Maggiore of Assisi will host 'Franciscus. Brother in Art', a major exhibition by Michelangelo Pistoletto exploring the relationship between art, spirituality, and social responsibility. The exhibition inaugurates the Assisi Estate 2026 program for the VIII Franciscan Centenary.

2026 marks the 80th anniversary of the modern Quintana (1946-2026) with an extraordinary calendar of three jousts: the Giostra dell'Ottantennale (May 30, 8:30 PM at Campo de li Giochi), the Giostra della Sfida (June 13), and the Giostra della Rivincita (September 13). A historical procession with over 800 participants in Baroque costumes and taverns of the Rioni open from May 28 to June 12.
Assisi Notes 2026
The IV edition of Note di Assisi offers 26 free concerts between June and August 2026 in the squares of Assisi and Santa Maria degli Angeli. The series alternates ensembles, bands, local artists and national guests, crossing various musical genres to highlight the historic centre and the cityβs iconic locations. The detailed programme is published on the official city tourism website.
Cambio Festival 2026
The Cambio Festival 2026 runs from June 6, 2026 to February 6, 2027 between Assisi and Perugia, featuring concerts in castles and churches and the Cambio Parole section. The summer highlight is the threeβday event in July at the Castello di Palazzo di Assisi, with Paolo Ricca Group, Antonio Forcione Quartet and Renaud GarciaβFons.

Riverock Festival 2026
The 2026 edition of the Riverock Festival returns to Rocca Maggiore in Assisi with five days of concerts. Among the announced guests are Bluvertigo featuring Morgan (July 24, a return after 25 years, an exclusive date for Umbria) and Fabri Fibra, with the Evanland festival by Gio Evan integrated into the July 25-26 schedule. The event then continues in autumn with performances at the Teatro Lyrick.
Italian International Balloon Grand Prix 2026
The 39th Italian International Balloon Grand Prix is scheduled from July 24th to August 2nd, 2026, between Gualdo Cattaneo (San Terenziano airfield), Massa Martana, and Lake Trasimeno. Approximately 100 hot air balloons from around the world, dawn flights every morning, and the evening Night Glow on Sunday, July 27th, on Lake Trasimeno.

Suoni Controvento 2026
For the ten-year anniversary of the festival, Suoni Controvento 2026 brings to the Rocca Maggiore in Assisi I Cani, Mannarino, Coez and Angelina Mango, with an exceptional finale on September 13: Giovanni Allevi with a symphonic orchestra in the Basilica Superiore di San Francesco. The traveling program also continues in other Umbrian municipalities, such as the C.S.I. stop at Villa Fidelia in Spello.

The 55th edition of the Torchiaginese Gastronomic Week β Roast Goose Festival takes place from July 31 to August 9, 2026 in Torchiagina di Assisi. For more than a week, roast goose is the star of a menu of typical Umbrian cuisine, accompanied by dancing evenings, a play area for children, traditional games and the inevitable Loka pub. Organized by the Pro Loco of Torchiagina.
Holydays Festival 2026
The 2026 Holydays Festival will take place from July 31st to August 2nd in Scopoli, a hamlet of Foligno. Three days of independent music in the mountain village of the Valle del Menotre, with a dedicated camping area and the intimate and participatory atmosphere that characterizes the festival. The line-up will be announced on the official channels of the association.

The 2026 edition combines the 32nd Sagra della Rocciata with the 7th Sagra degli Gnocchi Fatti a Mano in San Giovanni Profiamma. For several weeks, from late July through August, the stalls offer the rocciata, a typical sweet filled with apples, walnuts and raisins, and handβmade gnocchi with traditional sauces, accompanied by evening shows, dances and games for children.

Every Corner Every Stone 2026
The 2026 edition of Ogni Angolo Ogni Pietra takes place between August and September in the hidden places of Assisi. The performance by the Piccolo Teatro degli Instabili is dedicated to three twentiethβcentury figures linked to Saint Francis β Congdon, Weil and Fo β and is part of the Assisi Estate 2026 programme for the VIII Centenario francescano. Cinema alla Rocca 2026
In the summer of 2026, Cinema alla Rocca returns to the Giardino degli Incanti (Garden of Enchantments) of the Rocca Maggiore (Greater Rock) in Assisi, with a mini-review dedicated to the filmography about Clare and Francis of Assisi in the year of the eighth centenary.
Palio del Garzoncello 2026
The 2026 edition of the Palio del Garzoncello is eagerly awaited in early August, in the days leading up to the Palio dei Quartieri (August 3-9, 2026). Exact dates and the program have not yet been published. As per tradition, children from the two districts of Nocera Umbra will compete in the relay and carrying (portantina) trials.

The 35th edition of the Anguilla and River Shrimp Festival of Beroide is expected in the first days of August 2026, according to the usual annual schedule. The Taverna del Castello will return to serve eel and river shrimp for about a week, with music, dancing, and activities for children.
Perdono di Assisi 2026
The Forgiveness of Assisi 2026 is celebrated on August 1st and 2nd at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, around the Porziuncola. From 12:00 PM on August 1st to midnight on August 2nd, the faithful can obtain a plenary indulgence. Thousands of pilgrims from all over Italy gather at the sanctuary for the most significant occasion in the Franciscan calendar.

The 2026 edition of the Palio dei Quartieri takes place from August 3 to 9 in Nocera Umbra. The chosen theme is "the characters and events that have marked the social history of Nocera with their presence or their arrival from other places", around which Borgo San Martino and Porta Santa Croce will build processions, animations, and historical dinners.

The 4th edition of DeMusicAssisi, from 4 to 9 August 2026, has the theme "Gloriosus Franciscus": concerts, conferences, seminars and exhibitions dedicated to the 800 years since the death of San Francesco and his relationship with medieval music between the 13th and 15th centuries.

International Motoraduno Giro dell'Umbria 2026
The 44th edition of the Giro dell'Umbria takes place in Petrignano di Assisi: the motorcycle gathering will be held from August 10 to 15, 2026, featuring guided tours in Umbria and, for the first time, the inclusion in the FIM World Motorcycle Tourism Championship. The Petrignano Summer Night evenings animate the Jarno Saarinen Park from August 9 to 16.

From August 10 to 15, 2026, Annifo hosts the 33rd Sagra della Lenticchia (Lentil Festival) and the 40th edition of 7 Giorni in Montagna (7 Days in the Mountains). Every evening starting at 8:00 PM, the local tavern opens with a menu featuring local lentils; the program includes evening briscola tournaments, dance orchestras, and hikes along the trails of the Altopiani Plestini.

The Solemnity of St. Rufinus, patron saint of Assisi, is celebrated on August 12, 2026, with the festivities beginning on the evening of the 11th with a prayer vigil, a procession, and the blessing of the city. The eighth edition of the Sheep Festival, from August 22nd to 25th, 2026, at the Soli-Marchionni Park in Sant'Eraclio, offers four evenings dedicated to mutton and lamb. Stands open from 7 pm with the "sheep aperitivo", skewers and beer from 8 pm, and live music to close each evening.
Palio di San Rufino 2026
The Palio di San Rufino 2026 will be held at the end of August in Assisi, even more picturesque, with the crossbow competition between the districts of Dive Mariae, San Rufino, and San Francesco. There will be a historical market in Piazza del Comune, costume parades, medieval stalls, and the competition for the painted Palio and the silver crossbow.
Summerblues 2026
The 2026 edition of Summerblues takes place on August 23 and 24 at the municipal swimming pool of Nocera Umbra. The evenings begin at sunset, with the opening of the food stalls from 7:00 PM and blues music concerts to follow. Organized by Pro Loco Isola Fossara.

The inaugural edition of Francesco nell'Arte dei Madonnari will be held from August 28th to 30th, 2026, in the Lower Square of the Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi. Approximately fifty madonnari from around the world, directed by Kurt Wenner, will create a large collective work on a permanent surface dedicated to San Francesco, as part of the VIII Franciscan Centenary.

Art Rock Maskè 2026 takes place in Assisi from September 3 to 5, within Assisi Estate 2026: a theater and commedia dell'arte festival, curated by Teatro Studio Assisi, which puts in dialogue the masks of the Italian tradition with the figure of San Francesco, the "Giullare di Dio".
